In this brilliant adaptation of the Thomas Hardy classic, Julie Christie plays Bathsheba Everdene. The film follows her tempestuous, though not always happy, romantic relations with three men. Alan Bates is cast as the man with whom she eventually finds solace. The film is superbly photographed by Nicolas Roeg.
