John McTeague (Gibson Gowland), a California dentist marries miserly Trina Sieppe (ZaSu Pitts) who obsesses over the money she won in a lottery. John eventually kills Trina for her money and is pursued by her former lover who seeks the reward money for the murderer’s capture. This adaptation of Frank Morris' novel McTeague is a brutal account of the avarice in men's hearts, featuring great performances and breathtaking Death Valley photography.
