BLACK BEAUTY

Mark Lester, Walter Slezak

Paramount Pictures; Directed by James Hill

Rated G; 106 minutes; 1971

Based on the all-time favorite novel by Anna Sewell, BLACK BEAUTY is a lyrical tale of friendship and understanding between a young boy and his colt. But the boy, Joe Evans (Mark Lester) and Black Beauty are separted and are not reunited until very late in life. Before that reunion, Beauty passes from owner to owner: becoming a racehorse, a circus performer, a military steed in India and, finally, and a worker for a coal merchant. BLACK BEAUTY is a passionate visual argument for the proper treatment of animals as well as outstanding family entertainment.
