Swarm Your Patrons with Summer Activities
Below are just a few program ideas to help you begin planning. Does your library already have a web of activities planned?

- Start your own bug collection that can be displayed at the library.
- Create a program around "A Bug's Life" by building bug catchers from craft materials and taking a nature walk. End the evening with ice-your-own ladybug cookies and bug juice (flavored drink).
- Decorate your library with bugs created by children who frequent your library. Use popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, tissue paper and markers to make butterflies, craft pompons and pipe cleaners to make spiders or construction paper and pipe cleaners to make caterpillars.
- Make a positive contribution to your environment by planning and creating a butterfly garden outside your facility.
- Invite a local entomologist to display and discuss their bug collection.
- Encourage your youth to write and illustrate their own ABC bug book or create an adventure story with bugs as a main character or theme.
