Theme Of The Month: National Reach Your Potential Month
Watch a movie that displays motivation and potential to get students excited and interested in the topic. During intermission or at the end of the movie, have them do a writing activity. Ask them to set goals they want to reach by the end of the school year or have them focus on a talent or intelligence and then write a detailed plan showing how they will work at improving their skills in that area.

Show a movie relating to sports that will get students excited and interested in the topic. Discuss ideas on how to participate in various sports safely, including proper technique, safety equipment, nutrition, sportsmanship and having fun. Have the students write a paragraph about the movie they just watched and what they would do to be safe in that sport.

Theme Of The Month: National Pet Month/Be Kind to Animals
Show a movie that displays humans being kind to animals. Discuss and have them write down ideas on how they can make a difference with animals, including speaking out to others, not tolerating animal cruelty, identifying pets with ID tags, regular vet visits, etc. The students will be intrigued by the movie while learning about the amazing role animals play in our lives. The lessons they learn while they are young will stay with them for a lifetime.
